Is it possible to give a book a standing ovation? I know you guys can’t see me, but pretend I’m standing on my desk like this:
I FINALLY got around to finishing Jeff Wheeler’s Covenant of Muirwood Trilogy that I started back in August. I loved his first two, and then I was lucky enough to win the third on Goodreads….and then promptly got busy with challenges and holidays. Dangit! Sorry Jeff. I’ve been staring at this book for months, dying to read it!
If you read my first two reviews (HERE and HERE), I talk a lot about how I thought the backbone of his storyline must have been based on Henry VIII. Turns out I was right! Maia is actually Mary Tudor! Bam! Who knows her Tudor history. THIS GIRL! No wonder I love this trilogy so much!
This whole trilogy has been a delight to read, and The Void of Muirwood is no exception. This is an Arthurian kind of magic, the deep, ethereal kind that whispers to you from the old world. There are no wands or broomsticks here, instead leerings provide the key to a maston’s power. Parts of the series gave me chills!
I read the first two as ARCs on my Kindle, but now that I have the third in actual book form, I NEED copies of all three. Muirwood should be read by all–I put it on the same level as Patrick Rothfuss and Marissa Meyer. The world building is incredible, and there’s no reason why Jeff Wheeler should not be as popular as those two authors. GO BUY JEFF WHEELER’S BOOKS RIGHT NOW.
